Bosscam™ Internet video camera service Basic description: Permaboss.com Inc. continues to pursue the latest technologies in order to improve its line of embossing equipment. This latest advancement relates to the after-sales service provided by Permaboss. We now carry an Internet based camera system for training and troubleshooting purposes. The new hardware is vastly superior to any of the USB type cameras on the market today. It offers better compression for smoother transmission of images, and adds such features as local recording, audio, and motion detection. The system is available in 1 to 4 camera configurations that not only aid you in technical issues, but allow you to monitor your facility from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection and web browser. This feature
comes with every Permaboss.com Inc. embossing equipment and is also
available for sale as a stand-alone system for those who wish to take
advantage of the latest technology. Permaboss.com Inc. offers your company 24 hour/7 day video diagnostic service regardless of the location of machines. Should your staff ever require assistance on a new fabric, material or process, should the equipment ever malfunction or require adjustment, with the push of a few buttons, Permaboss can observe your equipment and operation remotely via the Internet. We provide an industrial-strength webcam solution simple enough for most users. The kit includes either one or two, color video cameras and a four-port switcher (so you can add up to four cameras) that connects to a computer via a serial port. The video can be transmitted in black and white for dial-up users. The cameras can be installed up to 500 feet from the switcher and include cast-iron bases with screw homes for mounting on walls or ceilings and use flexible pointing mechanisms. The video signal feeds into the computer via a composite video cable into and video for Windows capture card. If you don't have your own server, you can link to a free dynamic DNS service provided by Permaboss and serve video from any computer with an Internet connections, even if it doesn't have a static IP address. During operation, you can control transmission parameters such as window size, frame speed, and compression rate. Any user with an Internet connection and java-compatible browser can display the video; no plug-ins are required, only very small (25k or smaller) Java modules. Viewers can adjust the brightness and contrast of the transmitted video and the compression ratio. We tested playback on a variety of clients, with some as low as 28.8 connections. The results were impressive. The fixed focus cameras produces crisp images across a range of lighting conditions. We achieved out best results when using quarter screen videos, enabling a display rate of between one and two frames per second, which was more than adequate for most monitoring tasks. Why not purchase a $50 USB camera? These cameras are very competitively priced and can be found in any computer related store across the country. Their low price reflects the quality of the output you will get. The USB cameras use the most of the computers resources to stream video. This means a poor video with low frame rate that almost locks up the computer. On top of that, you have to use the software that comes with the camera which the viewer will most likely not have. The Bosscam system uses a video capture card which processes all of the video signals. It uses software than can be viewed in almost any browser so there are no compatibility issues.
